Bradabyssa marchilensis (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965) n. comb.

Brada marchilensis Hartmann-Schröder, 1965: 229 View in CoL –230, Fig. 226.—Rozbaczylo 1985: 158.

Type material. Type material not examined. Probably deposited in Hamburg; but it was not found, probably lost. The holotype was collected off Punta Lavapie, near to Galera , Chile in 260 m depth. Two other specimens were found at two other nearby stations, 90–150 m .

Diagnosis (after original description). Body 30 mm long, 2.3 mm wide, 37 chaetigers. Tunic covered with sand particles. Dorsal papillae arranged in four transverse series per segment, papillae longer and more abundant in chaetigers 1–4. Median parapodia provided with single long papilla per ramus. Notopodia with 5 chaetae per bundle, each with long articles. Neuropodia with falcate, aristate neurospines, with ankylosed articles reaching half chaetal length, distal half transparent.

Remarks. B. marchilensis (Hartmann-Schröder, 1965) n. comb. resembles B. capensis (Day, 1961) n. comb., n. status as they both have 37 chaetigers and 3–4 transverse series of dorsal papillae per segment, with adhering sand particles. They differ in their relative size and length of notochaetal articles: in B. marchilensis the body is larger (30 mm long), and its notochaetae all have long articles, whereas in B. capensis , the body is smaller (10–15 mm long), and its notochaetae have articles short basally, medium-sized medially and long distally.

Distribution. Off Punta Lavapie (37°09'00" S, 73°34'60" W), close to Galera, Chile, in muddy sands, 90–260 m depth.
