Type specimens. – Isolectotypes: Guarapi, sur la terre, avril 1881, Balansa 3699 ( G [1885], G00042249 ; Herb. Boiss., G00042245 ; Herb. Boiss., G00042246 ; Herb. Boiss. [nonoriginal Balansa label], G00042247 ; Herb. DC. [1884], G00042248 ) .

Type designation. – PURSELL (1994: 266): lectotype (BM). PURSELL (2007: 226): holotype (BM), isotype (NY).

Comments. – Number 3699 was used by Müller ( MÜLLER & STEPHANI, 1887: 57) for the nomen nudum “ Fissidens stenocarpus”.
