Hosts. Polyphagous, reported from 226 species belonging to 83 plant families ( García Morales et al. 2016). In Uruguay, Pl. citri  was recorded on Bougainvillea  sp. ( Nyctaginaceae  ), Euphorbia pulcherrima  ( Euphorbiaceae  ), Ficus sp. ( Moraceae  ), Gardenia jasminoides  ( Rutaceae  ), Justicia carnea  ( Acanthaceae  ), Malus domestica  ( Rosaceae  ), Nerium oleander  ( Apocynaceae  ), Olea europaea  ( Oleaceae  ), Pyrus communis  ( Rosaceae  ), Vitis vinifera  ( Vitaceae  ) ( Granara de Willink et al. 1997), Citrus limon  , C. sinensis  , C. reticulata  ( Rutaceae  ), Ficus carica ( Moraceae  ), Solanum tuberosum  ( Solanaceae  ) ( Trujillo Peluffo 1930) and Laurus nobilis  ( Lauraceae  ) ( Ruffinelli 1967).

Distribution. Australasian, Afrotropical, Nearctic, Neotropical, Oriental and Palaearctic regions ( García Morales et al. 2016).
