Cyanus uysalii (Şirin & Çeçen) Negaresh View in CoL , comb. nova.
Basionym: Centaurea uysalii Şirin & Çeçen (2019: 810) .
Type:— Turkey. C4 Karaman: Çakırdağı, between Kavurgalık hill and Pelitli stream, rocky area, 1270–1390 m, 37° 23′ 11″ N, 33° 29′ 26″ E, 1 May 2018, Şirin & Çeçen 733 (holotype KNYA! GoogleMaps , isotype ANK GoogleMaps ).
Relationships: — Cyanus uysalii belongs to C. sect. Protocyanus (Dobroczajeva 1949: 64) Olšavská (2013: 253), which includes taxa with perennial habit. It is similar to C. bourgaei , which is endemic to Turkey, in life from, shape of roots and pairs of lateral segments in its rosette leaves, but differs in some important characters such as stem ascending to decumbent, 12–20 cm long (vs. mostly ascending, 3–10 cm long), rosette leaves generally pinnatipartite (vs. lyrate), involucres 12–13 × 9–11 mm (vs. 15–17 × 10–13 mm), central florets 13–14 mm (vs. 16–17 mm) long, peripheral florets 20–21 mm (vs. 25–26 mm) long, median phyllaries obtuse, 8–9 × 2–3 mm (vs. acute, 9–10 × 3–4 mm), achenes 3.6–3.9 × 1.6–1.9 mm (vs. 4.5–5 × 2.5–2.9 mm), and also hilum sparsely hairy (vs. densely hairy).
In addition, C. uysalii shares some characters such as indumentum and habit with C. pichleri ( Boissier 1875: 638) Holub (1973: 144) . The latter species is distributed in Turkey and Greece ( Wagenitz 1975). However, its marked differences in stem 12–20 cm (vs. 6–12 cm) length, rosette leaves generally pinnatipartite and with 1–5 pairs of lateral segments (vs. entire or with large lanceolate terminal segment and l–2(–3) pairs of short lateral lobes or teeth), involucres ovoid-subglobose (vs. ovoid to funnel shaped), peripheral florets blackish-violet or yellowish-white, 20–21 mm long (vs. blue, 23–30 mm long), median appendages 7–10 × 2.5–3 mm (vs. 10–14 × 3.5–5 mm), median phyllaries obtuse (vs. acute), and also achenes 3.6–3.9 mm (vs. 4–5 mm) long separate C. uysalii easily from the latter.
