Holotype. (♀) Indonesia: SE Sulawesi, nr Sanggona, Mosquito Camp , Gn. Watuwila, Malaise trap, c 1200 m, 13–17.x.1989, leg. J. Huisman & R. de Jong (Leiden).
Etymology. The species name refers to the tri-colored metasoma.
Description. ♀. Body length 10.8 mm.
Head. Flagellum with 34 flagellomeres, very long and slender; 1 st flagellomere 5.6 × longer than wide; all flagellomeres much longer than wide. Temple rather long, moderately and roundly narrowed behind eye (fig. 15B). OED 1.4 × and OOD 0.7 × ocellar diameter. Temple finely punctate. Frons with microsculpture and sparse fine punctures. Face densely but superficially punctate, ± shining. Clypeus large, superficially punctate, almost flat; apical margin blunt, slightly bilobed (fig. 15A). Mandible sickle-shaped, ventral tooth absent. Malar space 0.8 × as long as width of mandibular base. Gena densely punctate. Genal carina reaching mandibular base.
Mesosoma . Covered with short setae. Notaulus impressed in frontal 0.3 of mesoscutum. Mesoscutum densely but superficially punctate, ± shining. Mesopleuron finely punctate, ventrally part striate in its frontal half; speculum large, smooth and shining. Metapleuron with smoothened surface; juxtacoxal carina present. Scutellum strongly pyramidal, about as long as wide, coarsely rugose, lateral carina in its basal 0.6. Propodeum completely carinated, with strong apophysis (fig. 15C); spiracle slit-shaped. Area superomedia small, hexagonal, about as wide as long; anterior transverse carina reaching at 4/10 of its length. Hind coxa with fine dense punctures, without scopa. Hind femur 4.6 × longer than wide. Claws simple. Areolet almost quadrangular, frontal distance between veins 2rs-m and 3rs-m 1.0 × their width. Vein 1cu-a interstitial.
Metasoma (fig. 15C). Strongly amblypygous, slender. Postpetiole moderately widened, without latero-median carina; median field not separated, smooth; lateral field punctate. 2 nd tergite about as long as wide. Gastrocoelus indistinct. Thyridium small, indistinctly impressed. 2 nd tergite with dense fine punctures, ± dull; following tergites with superficial punctures, ± shining. Ovipositor sheath not extending behind metasomal apex.
Colour. Black. Ivory are rings on flagellomeres 6–12, narrow apical margin of 6 th tergite and entire 7 th tergite. Palps, tegula, subtegular ridge, scutellum and postscutellum yellowish. Mandible except tooth, propodeum and metapleuron, 1 st to 3 rd tergites red; 3 rd tergite with black triangular spot apically (fig. 15C). 2 nd and 3 rd sternites red; following sternites black. Legs completely red. Wings weakly infuscate; pterostigma red.
