Paratypes. THAILAND: 3 females, same data as holotype, gen. prep. No.: AV7299 ( CKC) GoogleMaps ; 2 females, Nong Mae Na , Phetchabun, 22.X.2004, gen. prep. No.: AV7298 ( CKC) .
Diagnosis. The forewing length is 7.0 mm in the male and 10.0 mm in females. Ovipennis takia sp. n. is most reminiscent of O. regina sp. n. but the male can easily be distinguished by its smaller size, the narrower forewing having a markedly narrower basal ochreous orange patch with an oblique outer margin (it is almost perpendicular to the anal margin in the congener), and the hindwing lacking the ochreous suffusion basally. Compared to O. regina sp. n., the female of the new species has a somewhat narrower forewing, and a narrower basal ochreous orange patch with an almost straight outer margin, which is convex in O. regina sp. n. In the male genital capsule, O. takia sp. n. differs from O. regina sp. n. in the proximally broader and distally somewhat dilated uncus (it is strongly spatulate in the congener), the broader saccus, the more medially convex dorsal margin of the valva, the narrower but longer medial costal process, the proximally broader sacculus reaching the dorsal margin of the valva (it is ca. 3/5 of valva width at base in the congener), and the broader distal saccular process with longer and broader processes. Additionally, the distal membranous lobe of the valva is well-developed in O. takia sp. n. (as a short membranous protrusion distally-dorsally), whereas it is reduced in O. regina sp. n. The phallus of the new species is longer and narrower than in O. regina sp. n. and has a somewhat longer coecum. Compared to O. regina sp. n., the vesica of O. takia sp. n. is narrower, its mediolateral cluster consists of two longer and robust and several shorter and thin spiniform cornuti (it consists of a number of more or less equal sized spines of moderate length in O. regina sp. n.), and the distal diverticulum bears a cluster of short and thin spines, which are considerably thicker and longer in O. regina sp. n. The female genitalia of the two species are similar, but unlike in O. regina sp. n., the ductus and corpus bursae of O. takia sp. n. are narrower, and the posterior lateral sclerotised pockets of the latter structure are somewhat smaller. The detailed comparison of O. takia sp. n. with another similar species, O. kitchingi sp. n. is provided below in the diagnosis of the latter.
Distribution. Western and Central Thailand (Tak and Phetchabun Provinces). The records of ‘ O. binghami ’ from the provinces of Kanchanaburi and Uthai Thani ( Černý & Pinratana (2009), with a reference to A. Pinratana collection) most probably also belong to this species, but to clarify this question the examination of the genitalia of the specimens is necessary.
Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Tak Province of Thailand, where the holotype and most paratypes of the new species were collected. The name is a noun in the nominative singular in apposition.
