Description. Crown chocolate-brown with median line, one short stripe arising from anterior margin of crown, and another longer yellow stripe along inner margin of eye, anterior most margin of crown yellow. Eyes grayish. Pronotum chocolate brown with median line yellow, mesonotum with basal triangles chocolate brown; rest bright yellow with central patch of orange extending both anterad and posterad of scutoscutellar suture. Face, thoracic pleurites and sternites, labium, legs including setae and abdomen, yellow. Forewing chocolate brown costal margin in proximal 1/3 hyaline yellow, a triangular area interrupted by two dark chocolate brown veins hyaline, rest of venation darker brown ( Figs 1B, D View FIGURES 1 ).
Structure as in generic description. Female sternite VII posterior margin concave with median sclerotized, pigmented broad lobe with posterior margin slightly concave ( Fig. 3A View FIGURES 3 ).
Male genitalia ( Figs 4A–I View FIGURES 4 ) and female genitalia ( Figs 3B–E View FIGURES 3 ) as described in the generic description.
Measurements. Male 5.6 mm long, 1.1 mm wide across eyes and 1.3–1.4 mm wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum. Female 6.3 mm long, 1.2 mm wide across eyes and 1.5 mm Wide across posterolateral angles of pronotum.
Material examined. HOLOTYPE ♂, INDIA: Karnataka: Kemmannagundi , 10.iv.1975, C.A. Viraktamath ( UASB) . Paratypes: 3 ♂, 2 ♀, same data as holotype ( UASB, NBAIR, NPC) .
Remarks. Among the Scaphoideini species of the Indian subcontinent, this species can be recognized by its conically pointed head, chocolate brown dorsum with median thin yellow stripe on crown and pronotum, bright yellow, mesonotum with median orange patch and completely yellow ventral areas. It has very unique male genitalia (see also Discussion).
