Nycteris paris belongs to the macrotis group. It was previously considered conspecific with N. wood:i. Monotypic.
Distribution. Known from just four localities in N Cameroon, S Ethiopia, and S Somalia. View Figure
Descriptive notes. Head-body 46-47 mm, tail 44-50 mm, ear 30 mm, hindfoot 9 mm, forearm 38-41 mm; weight 7 g. Parisi’s Slit-faced Batis very small and has short, rounded wings. Longitudinal cleft runs along top of muzzle, covering noseleaves. Furis long and fluffy, grayish brown dorsally, and grayish ventrally. Ears are long. Wing membranes are dark brown.
Habitat. Riverine forests or swamps in semiarid savanna.

Movements, Home range and Social organization. No information.
Status and Conservation. Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCN Red List. Justfive specimens of Parisi’s Slit-faced Bat have been collected at four widely different geographical locations. Until more information becomes available, Parisi’s Slit-faced Bat will remain one of the poorest known bats on the African continent.
