Description. Elongate; yellowish-red; head black with vertex yellowish-red; antennae black; pronotum with lateral margins black; elytra yellowish-red with suture at base darker; legs black with base of femora yellow; venter yellowish medially, black laterally. Head: frons carinate; vertex sulcate, alutaceous. Antenna: less than ½ body length; antennomere 1 large, subglobose; 2 transverse, short; 3–6 cylindrical, decreasing in length; 7– 10 transverse; 11 pointed at apex; 1–7 punctate, glabrous; 8–11 setose. Pronotum: transverse, convex; conic; lateral margin bisinuate; anterior angle with tooth; transverse basal impressions distinct; surface irregularly punctate, more dense laterally; pronotal length 1.1–1.4 mm (n=20); pronotal width 1.8–2.1 mm. Scutellum: subcordate; alutaceous. Elytron: elongate; subquadrate; lateral and apical margins serrate; exterior apical angle rounded, strongly serrate; apical angle rounded; intervals 2, 4, and 8 costate, interval 6 costate at base and apex; with 10 rows of punctures, scutellar row absent; elytral length 7.7–8.1 mm; elytral width 2.9–3.0 mm. Venter: smooth medially, alutaceous laterally. Leg: femur and tibia punctate. Total length: 8.7–10.5 mm.
Remarks. This species is distinguished by the elytra without a scutellar row and without black markings.
Host plants. From label data adults have been collected on bromeliads ( Bromeliaceae ) and Cassia sp. ( Fabaceae : Caesalpinoidea).
