Type locality and specimens. Co Cat Cay , Pelican Cays, Belize, 16º39.527’N 88º12.032’W. Holotype, male, 6.8 mm, YPM 38659; paratype, female, 5.7 mm, YPM 38660. GoogleMaps
Material examined. Unmeasuered males and females, YPM 38659, YPM 38660, YPM 38661. Diagnosis based on description by Thomas & Klebba (2007).
Diagnosis. Mandibular palp article 2 with 18 setae. Gnathopod 1 coxa with long facial seta; carpus with distal setae. Gnathopod 2 carpus distally truncate; propodus mediofacial setal row displaced to midline, palm with one major and two minor tubercles. Coxa 6 with facial setae. Pereopods 5–7 bases narrowly expanded. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner produced.
Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Gnathopod 1 basis posterior margin with eight setae; carpus narrow.
Habitat. Coral reefs, mangrove lagoons; 2– 15 m.
Host. Ascidians: Phallusia (formerly Ascidia ) nigra and Ascidia curvata ( Traustedt, 1882) . Live specimens have a distinct brown checker back pattern.
Distribution. Atlantic Ocean: Florida Keys ( Thomas & Klebba 2007). Caribbean Sea: Cuba ( Ortiz 1975), Belize ( Thomas & Klebba 2007), Panama ( White 2011).
