Type locality and specimens. Co Cat Cay , Pelican Cays, Belize, 16º39.527’N 88º12.032’W. Holotype, male, 9.0 mm, YPM 38656; paratype, female, 7.8 mm, YPM 38657. GoogleMaps
Material examined. Unmeasured males and females, YPM 38656, YPM 38657, YPM 38658. Diagnosis based on description by Thomas & Klebba (2007).
Diagnosis. Angular anterior head margin; anterodistal margin slightly concave. Mandibular palp article 2 with 16–17 setae. Gnathopod 1 coxa with serrate anterior margin. Gnathopod 2 carpus distally truncate; propodus with two mediofacial setal rows, palm with three major tubercles.
Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Gnathopod 1 basis posterior margin with slight proximal inflation, anterior margin with nine setae, posterodistal margin with 10 long setae. Gnathopod 2 basis anterior margin with 11 scattered long and short setae, anterodistal corner with tuft of four short setae, posterodistal margin with three setae; carpus distally oblique, with six to eight apical setae.
Habitat. Coral reefs; 2–15 m.
Host. Sponge: Spongia obliqua .
Distribution. Atlantic Ocean: Florida Keys ( Thomas & Klebba 2007) Caribbean Sea: Belize ( Thomas & Klebba 2007), Panama ( White 2011).
