Type locality and specimens. Royapuram Beach , Madras, India. Holotype, male, 3.7 mm; allotype, unmeasured female; paratypes, unmeasured, NSZI.

Material examined. No material available for examination. Diagnosis based on description by Sivaprakasam (1969).

Diagnosis. Truncate anterior head margin; anterodistal margin with cusp. Ventral keel anteroventral margin with cusp. Gnathopod 1 coxa with serrate anterior margin. Gnathopod 2 basis with heavily setose anterior margin; carpus distally truncate; propodus palm with four tubercles. Coxa 4 with serrate distal margin.

Note. Ledoyer (1986) illustrates a much less setose gnathopod 2 and the material used in this description should be examined to determine if it is L. madrasana .

Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Gnathopod 2 palm with smaller tubercles.

Habitat. Among holothurians; 2–30 m.

Host. Unknown.

Distribution. Indian Ocean: Madras Coast, India ( Sivaprakasam 1969b), Mauritius, Madagascar ( Ledoyer 1972; Ledoyer 1978a; Ledoyer 1979a; Ledoyer 1986). Indo–Pacific Ocean: Bunaken, Indonesia ( Ortiz & Lalana 1997).
