Leucothoe dolichoceras K.H. Barnard, 1916
Leucothoe dolichoceras K.H. Barnard, 1916: 151 , 152, pl. 26, fig. 14. —K.H. Barnard, 1925: 343, 344. — Griffiths, 1974b: 246. — Griffiths, 1974c: 303. — Griffiths, 1975: 140.
Type locality and specimens. Cape St. Francis NE, distant 29 miles. Holotype, male, 12 mm, SAM A167 ; paratype, male, SAM A3399 .
Material examined. No material available for examination. Diagnosis based on description by K. H. Barnard (1916, 1925).
Diagnosis. Gnathopod 2 propodus palm with three large comb-like projections, similar to L. ctenochir .
Note. Barnard’s original description of Leucothoe dolichoceras is vague with only gnathopod 2 illustrated. Subsequent reports do not describe the species nor do they provide illustrations. This is likely a valid species, but examination of the type or topotypic material is necessary to distinguish diagnostic characters for the species.
Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Unknown.
Habitat. Habitat not reported; 136 m (reported as 75 fthm).
Host. Unknown.
Distribution. Atlantic Ocean: Cape St. Francis to west coast, Africa (K.H. Barnard 1916; K.H. Barnard 1925; Griffiths 1974b; Griffiths 1975).
