Type locality and specimens. South coast of Devonshire. Types lost. Krapp-Schickel & Menioui, 2005 redecsribed this species without designating a neotype: Loch Tyne and Roscoff Cognetti. Males and females, 5.5–13 mm.
Material examined. No material available for examination. Diagnosis based on description by Krapp- Schickel & Menioui (2005) and Lincoln (1979).
Diagnosis (sex unknown). Gnathopod 2 carpus with a large subdistal tooth; propodus with mediofacial setal row displaced to midline. Epimeron 3 posteroventral corner produced.
Female (sexually dimorphic characters). Unknown.
Habitat. Among algae; depth not reported, intertidal.
Host. Sponges, ascidians.
Distribution. Northern Atlantic Ocean: along English coasts ( Montagu 1804; Bate 1862; Lincoln 1979; Krapp-Schickel & Menioui 2005); Mediterranean Sea: Naples ( Costa 1851).
