Mycotretus fuscitarsis Lacordaire, 1842: 180 [description]. Crotch 1876: 448; Gemminger and Harold 1876: 3693; Gorham 1888: 68; Kuhnt 1909: 73; Kuhnt 1911: 49; Blackwelder 1945: 466; Alvarenga 1994: 25; Skelley 1998: 16; Murgas 2006: 8.

Lectotype of Mycotretus fuscitarsis Lacordaire, 1842 , here designated ( MRSN; Figure 36–37 View Figures 34-39 )

‘Orizaba [handwritten]\ LECTOTYPE [printed] Mycotretus fuscitarsis Lacordaire 1842 [handwritten]’.

Another specimen examined

1 female ( MNRJ, dissected) ‘ColeÇão M . Alvarenga [printed]\ Cerro de Plumas , Mexico . Hoege. [printed]\B.C.A., Col.,VII. Mycotretus fuscitarsis . [printed]\1884 [printed]’.

Diagnosis

Body shape rounded, TL: 4.63 mm (n = 1). Very similar to M. coccineus in all diagnostic features, except for the blackish tarsi ( Figures 38–39 View Figures 34-39 ) and the occurrence in Mexico. Male genitalia: unknown. Female genitalia: vaginal process present, blunt swelling and elongate to the level of gonostyli.

Distribution

Mexico ( Figure 56 View Figure 56 ).

Remarks

More material and detailed studies are needed to verify whether M. fuscitarsis and M. coccineus need to be synonymised or, on the other hand, be considered as two separated species. Currently, as we have examined only the lectotype (not dissected) and one conspecific female, we prefer not to propose a new synonym here.
