Holarctic genus with one species in South Africa also. Number of species:

World – 49 species, Palaearctic – 32, Russia – 6. Ammoplanus transcaspicus Gussakovskij, 1931 which recorded from Altai Republic (Baghirov, 2010) actually belongs to A. kaszabi Tsuneki, 1972 and A. marathroicus (De Stefani Perez, 1887)

and is excluded from Russian fauna.
