Distribution

S. China, Philippines (including Mindanao) (not previously reported from specific islands), Indonesia (Borneo, Java, Sumatra and Nias), Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar and India.

Remarks

As Lee (2010, 2015) indicated, the identity of this species in the Philippines should be reconsidered. The female type of P. guttularis is hardly distinguishable from the female paratype of P. nana as shown in Lee (2009a). We suspect that the record of P. guttularis from Mindanao is due to misidentification. Purana guttularis may have to be removed from the cicada list of Mindanao.
