Distribution and ecology: — The species is exclusive to the Brazilian Northeast, found in the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Piauí and Rio Grande do Norte related to the Caatinga domain (BFG 2018). In Paraíba it is comun in Cariri paraibano next the great granitic formations ( Queiroz 2021).
Phenology:— Registered with flowers and fruits in February.
Taxonomic discussion:— Senna martiana can be recognized, mainly, by the shrubby habit, lateral stipules, paripinnate leaves, inflorescence in terminal raceme and by the flowers of yellow corolla. It is distinguished from other similar representatives of the area studied by the presence of a gland in the stipule, yellow bracts and leaves with leaflets greater than three pairs in Senna obtusifolia .
