According to Martins & Santos-Silva (2013), since Erichson’s (1847) original description of Psapharochrus leucogaea , this species was only cited in checklists ( Blackwelder, 1946) and catalogs ( Aurivillius, 1923; Monné, 1994, 2005, Monné et al., 2012). They revised its generic position and transferred Psapharochrus leucogaeus to Eupromerella ; they also illustrated the male holotype.

Monné & Monné (2006) examined photographs of the female paratype of Acanthoderes (Psapharochrus) virescens Fuchs, 1962 (deposited in the HSCV) and transferred it to Acanthoderes (Scythropopsis) . Herein we propose the synonymy between A. leucogaeus and A. virescens and confirm the position of this species in the genus Eupromerella as noted earlier by Martins & Santos-Silva (2013.
