Figs 7–9 View FIGURES 1 – 9. F , 30–37 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F

Description. Length, male (including tegmen): 9.2mm; length of tegmen: 7.2mm.

Body brown with black stripes. Vertex black with apex brown. Eyes dark brown. Frons pale brown; clypeus brown with pale brown stripes. Rostrum brown. Pronotum and mesoscutellum with pale brown tubercula, disc black. Tegmen brown with dark brown maculae. Wing dark brown. Legs brown, fore-, meso- and hind femora with black stripes, tibiae greenish brown. Venter brown with apex dark brown.

Vertex with sides adjacent eye parallel, disc distinctly depressed ( Figs 7 View FIGURES 1 – 9. F , 30 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ). Frons with greatest width ventrally approximately twice× narrowest width beyond eyes dorsally ( Figs 8 View FIGURES 1 – 9. F , 31 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ). Thorax ( Figs 7 View FIGURES 1 – 9. F , 30 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ) with pronotal disc with tubercula; mesoscutellum short and broad, with median and lateral carinae, greatest width 2.1× medial length. Tegmen with many irregular maculae, 2.8× longer than widest part; Sc long, reaching beyond midlength of tegmen, M not forked, Cu 2-branched, an extra vein arising after apex of clavus nearly parallel to Cu1 ( Fig. 32 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ). Wing 0.95× length of tegmen ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ). Hind tibia with 5 lateral teeth near apex. Spinal formula of hind legs 8–9–2.

Male genitalia: Anal segment in dorsal view longer than greatest width, lateral margins incurved and convergent basally ( Fig. 35 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ); in lateral view relatively narrow, ventral margin nearly straight, slightly expanded apically. Pygofer with caudal margin evenly rounded ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ). Phallus in profile shallowly curved with 2 moderately long spiniform processes directed cephalad near midlength. Aedeagus in profile strongly curved ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ); dorsal lobe split into 2 branches, in lateral view narrow and not enwrapping downwards other lobes, with apices slender and rounded ( Fig. 37 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ); lateral lobes with apices rounded; ventral lobe with apex slightly convex in ventral view; ventral spiniform processes directed cephalad. Genital styles moderately long, nearly triangular, about 3x as broad subbasally as at apex, anterior margin convex, ventral margin shallowly convex, apical margin more or less tapering and rounded, dorsal margin near base produced dorsad in large tapering lobe, with apices acuminate and short carina below lobe ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 30 – 37. F ).

Material examined. Holotype 3, China, Yunnan Prov., Ruili, Nanjingli, 4 June 1981, coll. Li Fasheng ( NWAFU).

Remarks. This species is similar to Flavina lineata (Walker) , but differs from the latter by the frons without yellow fascia, Cu only forked near the middle and vertex without central carina.

Etymology. The Latin words “nigri” and “fascia” refer to its dark area on head and thorax dorsally.
