Diagnosis. “Polyps generally 2–4 mm (but up to 6 mm) in transverse diameter. Corallum bushy or flabellate; pinnulate, and subpinnulate. Primary pinnules arranged in two to six rows and usually also in bilateral groupings. Pinnules in the anteriormost rows (anterior referring to that side of the stem and branches on which the polyps occur) bearing subpinnules; lateral (or posterolateral) and posterior pinnules simple or subpinnulate. Tertiary pinnules present in some species. Spines simple, smooth, deltoid to conical to acicular in lateral view” ( Opresko, 2003).
