Polytaenium citrifolium View in CoL (L.) Schuettp., Taxon 65(4): 719. 2016.
= Anetium citrifolium View in CoL (L.) Splitg., Tijdschr. Nat. Geschied. 7: 395. 1840.
Range: —Southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC); Brazil.
Ecology: —Fairly common; epiphytic in humid forests, mainly on lower tree trunks, often on palms, occasionally on fallen tree trunks and rarely on rocks; 150–1250 m.
Notes:— Similar in blade shape to some species of Campyloneurum which have rectangular areoles with included veinlets and numerous round sori, or Elaphoglossum which has parallel, free veins (vs. polygonal areoles lacking free veins and sporangia not in discrete sori in Anetium ). Polytaenium citrifolium has the broadest blades of any vittarioid species in the Neotropics, and its rhizomes are generally much longer-creeping than other species in the subfamily.
