Range: —Greater Antilles; southern Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CO, LP, PA, SC), and Brazil.
Ecology: —Common; pendent epiphyte in humid forests; 150–2050 m. The species has been observed to host ants below and around the rhizome and root mat ( León & Young 2010). This may benefit the fern by providing nutrients carried in by the ants.
