Range: —Hispaniola; Mexico south to Venezuela, Bolivia ( CH, CO, L, PO, SC, TA), Chile, central Argentina, and southern Brazil.
Ecology: —Very common; terrestrial on rocky or shrubby hillsides in arid to semihumid regions; (1350–) 2400– 3850 m.
Notes: —Blades 3-to 4-pinnate; segments to 1 mm long, beadlike, adaxially glabrous; rhizome scales bicolorous, dark brown with whitish margins. Other Bolivian Myriopteris and Cheilanthes with densely scaly segments abaxially have concolorous rhizome scales.
