Range: — Bolivia ( CH, CO, LP, TA) and Argentina.
Ecology: — Uncommon; saxicolous in arid intermontane valleys; 1500–3700 m.
Notes: — Segments oblong, densely scaly abaxially, with narrow hairlike scales adaxially; rhizome scales bright red-brown, flat. The “piliform scales” ( Tryon & Stolze 1989) on the adaxial surface of the blades are hairlike scales, to five cells wide at the base.
