Range: — Jamaica; mountains from Costa Rica to Guyana and Bolivia (LP).
Ecology: —Uncommon; rocky and shrubby slopes and hillsides; 2600–3600 m.
Notes: —This is the only species of the genus with straw-colored to light brown petioles (except for dark bases) and rachises. All other species have deep reddish brown to atropurpureous petioles and rachises. The abaxial blade surfaces have white or yellow farina.
