Diagnosis. Wing length 2.2 mm. Fronto-orbital plate predominantly yellowish, brownish to upper fronto-orbital seta; pedicel brown; leg brown, with apex of femur and base of tibia yellow in the fore leg; calypter yellowish with margin black, fringe black. Aedeagus (Fig. 63a in Spencer 1963): basiphallus slightly sclerotized; mesophallus short and globose; subquadrate sclerite present between mesophallus and distiphallus; distiphallus short, divided into two cylindrical tubules as long as mesophallus.

Distribution. Brazil.
Material examined. BRAZIL, Pará state, Belém: Universidade Federal do Pará ( UFPA), 1º28′25.0″S, 48º27′20.7″W, 19-VI-2015, N. Monteiro [collector], ex leaf of Ipomoea setifera (3 ♂); same location, 19-VI-2015, N. Monteiro [collector],], ex leaf of Ipomoea setifera (2 ♀) GoogleMaps .
Comments. Spencer (1963) suggested that Calycomyza irreperta was a leaf miner of a Convolvulaceae species, which is confirmed by the present study, with larvae forming linear mines on leaves of Ipomoea setifera .
