Figure 1
Japanagromyza centrosematifolii Etienne, 2003: 262 View in CoL (in Etienne & Martinez 2003).
Diagnosis. Wing length 2.0 mm. Mesonotum shining, greenish; prescutellar setae present; fore tibia with one lateral seta; mid tibia with two lateral setae; abdomen greenish; calypter whitish, fringe white; halter yellowish. Aedeagus (Fig. 1): tubular, slightly sclerotized; basiphallus small and sclerotized; mesophallus predominantly membranous, only sclerotized at apex; distiphallus slightly sclerotized, forming two tubules that are fused and coiled; hypophallus entirely membranous; hypandrium with apodeme; surstylus with two spines at apex; cercus with 12 to 19 spines internally.
Host-plants. Fabaceae— Centrosema pubescens Benth. , Centrosema virginianum (L.) Benth., Fabaceae sp.
Distribution. * Brazil, Guadeloupe.
Material examined. Brazil, Pará state, Belém: Avenida Perimetral , 1º26′31.7″S, 48º26′49.7″W, 18-XII-2017, N. Monteiro [collector], ex leaf of Fabaceae sp. (2 ♂); same location, 18-XII-2017, N. Monteiro [collector], ex leaf of Fabaceae sp. (2 ♀) GoogleMaps .
Comments. Japanagromyza centrosematifolii is similar to Japanagromyza centrosemae (Frost) in the shape of the aedeagus, but J. centrosemae differs in lacking setae on the mid tibia. Larvae of J. centrosematifolii form blotch mines on the surface of the leaf with frass deposited in visible masses.
