Diagnosis. Wing length 1.6 mm. Fronto-orbital darkened in the upper half; face greyish-yellow; pedicel brown; legs brown, with apex of femur and base of tibia yellow in the fore leg; calypter yellowish with margin black, fringe black. Aedeagus (Fig. 24 and 25): basiphallus slightly sclerotized with two extensions distally; mesophallus short, elliptic, with paired extension distally; quadrate sclerite present between mesophallus and distiphallus; distiphallus short, forming two cylindrical tubules swith paired extensions ventrally.
Host-plants. Convolvulaceae— Ipomoea alba L., I. batatas (L.) Lam.
Distribution. * Brazil, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, USA.
Material examined. Universidade Federal do Pará ( UFPA), 1º28′25.0″S, 48º27′20.7″W, 19-VI-2017, R.R. Bar- bosa [collector], ex leaf of Ipomoea batatas (♂).
Comments. Calycomyza stegmaieri and C. ipomoensis are similar in their external morphology and in the shape of their mines, but there are major differences in the aedeagus, with C. stegmaieri having a more elongated mesophallus, a smaller distiphallus, and a different shape to the distiphallus tubules.
