REMARK
Boissier based this species on living specimens brought from Madagascar by Richard, but no herbarium material of this plant has been kept, and Denis (1921) and Ursch & Leandri (1954) considered the species as insufficiently known. Marnier-Lapostolle & Leandri (1956) wrote that the plant known and cultivated in European greenhouses under the name of Euphorbia lophogona was in fact the real E. leuconeura . This one was largely diffused in Europe under the name of E. lophogona (as specified in the diagnose by Boissier), while the real E. lophogona described by Lamarck doesn’t seem to have ever been established in cultivation in Europe at this time (see Euphorbia fournieri Rebut ).
