Type-locality: Venezuela, Carabobo, Otama island. Phlebotomus almazani Galliard 1934 View in CoL , 193 (female). Type-locality: Mexico, Yucatán, Chichén Itzá.

Lutzomyia (Lutzomyia) longipalpis (Lutz and Neiva) View in CoL : Young and Duncan 1994, 56 (references, taxonomy, distribution); Ibáñez-Bernal 1999, 94 (diagnosis, references, Mexican distribution); Galati 2003, 36, 91, 92 (list, keys). Lutzomyia longipalpis View in CoL has been associated with the transmission of Leishmania chagasi Cunha and Chagas, the causal agent of visceral leishmaniasis. In Mexico, this species was known from localities of the states of Chiapas, Guerrero, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla, Quintana Roo and Yucatán ( Ibáñez-Bernal 1999). This is the first record of the species in Veracruz.

V, col., 4 males, 4 females (slide mounted IEXA); Municipality of Actopan, Soyocuautla, 7- 02-2008, mangal, CDC trap, Brig. Ent. V, col., 2 females; Municipality of Emiliano Zapata, Chavarillo, 14-06- 2008, CDC light trap, Brig. Ent. V, col., 1 female.
