Type species (here designated): Doleroserica gentilis Péringuey, 1904 .

Originally included nominal species: Doleroserica auspicata Péringuey, 1904 ; Serica curtula Fåhraeus, 1857 ; Doleroserica festa Péringuey, 1904 ; Doleroserica gentilis Péringuey, 1904 ; Doleroserica laetula Péringuey, 1904 .

Type material examined ( Doleroserica gentilis Péringuey, 1904 ): Lectotype (here designated): ɗ “ Natal. Newcastle. / A.E. Hunt. 1893 / Doleroserica gentilis Type Py / Type SAM / Ent. 3/51” ( SAMC).

Remarks: Since I have no evidence that Péringuey saw the Fåhraeus types, I prefer to choose the second species, Doleroserica gentilis , of those treated under the name Doleroserica (in order to ensure that the type species is correctly identified).
