Type locality. Peru, Cajamarca, Michiquillay, m 4050.
Examined material. HT ♂ (CGi); 10 PTT ♂ and 8 PTT ♀ (CGi, CAl, CCa, CMo, CMa, MSNM, BMNH) (complete TS); 4 ♂ and 3 ♀ (CMa).
Note. Species belonging to the ‘ B. orbicollis species group’ (along with B. crassus , B. orbicollis and B. pseudolaevis ) distinguished by the habitus as well as the distinctive and very similar morphology of aedeagus ( Allegro & Giachino 2011b).
Distribution. All the recorded specimens of B. pinguis (M. Etonti legit) are from the Dept. Cajamarca (northern Peru) ( Allegro & Giachino 2011b).
Habitat. The altitude data reported on the labels (4,050 m a.s.l.) suggest a preference of this species for the Andean grassland.
