Diagnosis. This species is distinguishable by the sacculus that is right-angled ventroapically. It is similar to H. arcisaccula , sp. nov. in the male genitalia, and the differences between them are stated in the latter species.

Description. Adult ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1‒5 ). Vertex grayish brown, frons grayish white. Antenna grayish brown, with blackish brown ring on each flagellomere. Labial palpus with first and second segments brown; second segment mixed with blackish brown, expanded distally; third segment white, short and thin, slightly drooping. Patagium brown; thorax grayish white mixed with dark brown; tegula dark brown. Foreleg blackish brown, grayish white at middle and apex of tibia, as well as at apex of first, second and fifth tarsomeres; midleg blackish brown, grayish white at middle and apex of tibia, as well as at apex of first to third and fifth tarsomeres; hindleg grayish white, second to fifth tarsomeres blackish brown except grayish white at apex.

Wingspan 8.0‒9.0 mm. Forewing ground color grayish white, mixed with dark brown and reddish brown; costa blackish brown, with nine pairs of grayish white strigulae: striae below distal five pairs leaden gray mixed with reddish brown, obliquely outward and confluent to near apex of R 5; dark brown fascia extending from basal 0.33 of costa to middle of fold, then obliquely inward and widening to basal 0.33 of dorsum, indicating edge of basal patch; median fascia short, extending from middle of costa to below upper margin of discal cell at distal 0.2, forming a subtrapezoidal blackish brown spot, part scales tipped with reddish brown; blackish brown mixed with yellow stripe extending from distal 0.17 of fold outward to near base of M 2; tornal spot blackish brown mixed with yellow, subtriangular, extending along inner margin of ocellus to middle of CuA 2; ocellus leaden gray, transverse blackish brown stripe in middle, mixed with yellow, narrowed from distal half of R 5 to tornus; cilia grayish brown, mixed with grayish white, subbasal line blackish brown. Hindwing and cilia gray.

Male genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 6‒10 ): Tegumen obtuse on posterior margin. Socius approximately half length of tegumen, with sparse short setae. Valva with basal excavation approximately 0.33 length of valva; costa obtusely produced before middle; sacculus right angled ventroapically, with sparse short spines on outer margin; neck approximately half maximum width of cucullus; cucullus elongate, approximately 1.5 times length of sacculus, gradually broadened to obtusely rounded apex, with a cluster of sparse short spines beyond neck, with large ventral spine located before basal 0.33 and before apex respectively. Phallus approximately 0.66 length of valva, gradually narrowed to apex, with dense micro serrations on distal 0.33; cornuti consisting of numerous deciduous seta-like needles and one thick spine.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11‒14 ): Sternite VII divided into two subquadrate lateral sclerites connected below ostium bursae, with narrow densely spinous anterior hump at each side of ostium bursae. Ostium bursae situated in middle of sternite VII, large and subrectangular, longer than wide, with fine spines along lateral margins, with wrinkles posteriorly. Antrum inverted trapezoidal, short, approximately 0.17 length of ductus bursae; colliculum long and broad, widening from basal 0.33 to near end of ductus bursae; ductus bursae nearly equal length to corpus bursae. Corpus bursae ovate; two signa blade-shaped, with rounded basal plate; appendix bursae and corpus bursae nearly equal in size; ductus seminalis originating from base of appendix bursae. Sternite VI with posterior margin concave and sclerotized medially.

Distribution. China (Hainan, Yunnan).

Etymology. The specific epithet is derived from the Latin orthocerus, referring to the sacculus right angled ventroapically in the male genitalia.
