Typus — IRAQ. Kurdistan : Mon. Gara, Kotschy ( G 560 !) .

Description —Shrubs not spiny, deciduous, spreading on cliffs, 30–50 cm high. Stems dark or white grey, brown with mostly alternate and rarely opposite branches. Only with scale (short) type branches. Leaves 3–9 × 2–5 mm, alternate, ovoid, elliptic to oblong, pubescent or glabrous; base of leaves roundish; apex of leaves obtus, with many thin and serrate marginal teeth (especially in upper part); vernation pinnate, lateral nerves deep, 6–12 pairs, mostly opposite and sometime alternate; petiols 8–12 mm. Flowers small, in leaf axils, yellow, in fascicles or cymes on short branches, 4(–5)-merous; calyx campanulate, persistent on fruits; stamens epipetalous with inwared curve; disk very small; ovary with (3–4) locular and mostly with (3–4) styls; peduncles 3-8 mm. Fruits a fleshy globulor drupe, 4–5 mm, with (3–)4 seeds and (3–)4 furrows, mature fruits black. Seeds 3–4 mm long.
