Genus Acrozangis Breddin, 1900
Acrozangis Breddin (1900): 310 –311 (original description). Type species: Acrozangis semiprasina Breddin, 1900 , by monotypy.
Acrozangis: Bergroth (1908): 172 (catalog); Kirkaldy (1909): 125 (catalog).
Diagnosis. Humeri usually broadly or narrowly angulate. Mesosternal carina developed and lamellate anteriorly, contiguous with metasternal carina posteriorly, metasternal carina hollowed out or with groove at posterior end and accommodating apex of basal abdominal tubercle. Abdominal sternites medially with longitudinal ridge, not well developed, posterolateral angles of abdominal sternites with short but prominent tooth.
Description. Structure. Head ( Figs 8, 9 View FIGURES8–13. 8, 10, 12 ) slightly declivous. Mandibular plates more or less equal to clypeus; clypeus apically free, mandibular plates not meeting in front of clypeus. Antennae with segment I not reaching apex of head. Pronotum with anterior region of pronotal disc slightly declivous; anterolateral angle of pronotum with minute tooth, anterolateral margin straight. Humeri broadly angulate ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES8–13. 8, 10, 12 ) or angulately produced or narrowly angulate ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES8–13. 8, 10, 12 ). Scutellum longer than broad, lateral sides convex in frenal portion, apex of scutellum not surpassing anterodistal angles of corium, broadly rounded. Hemelytra with clavus narrowly triangular, corium with anterodistal angles rounded apically, much surpassing apex of scutellum. Membrane translucent, extending beyond apex of abdomen. Mesosternal carina well developed, lamellate anteriorly, usually not extending beyond procoxae, mesosternal carina posteriorly contiguous with metasternal carina. Metasternal carina posteriorly hollowed out or with groove to accommodate apex of basal abdominal tubercle (Figs 16, 18). Peritreme well developed, ruga-like, extending well beyond middle of metapleuron, but not reaching lateral margin of metapleuron ( Figs 14 View FIGURES 14 and 18 , 15). Pregenital abdomen slightly wider than pronotum across humeri. Connexivum slightly exposed. Abdominal venter medially with faint longitudinal ridge, basal abdominal ventrite with moderately developed tubercle, the apex of which is accommodated in the hollowed out apex of metasternal carina or apex of basal abdominal tubercle concealed in a groove at the posterior apex of metasternal carina (Figs 16, 18), posterolateral angles of ventrites III–VII with short, stout tooth ( Figs 2, 4 View FIGURES 1–4. 1–2 , 6 View FIGURES 5–7 ); paired trichobothria in each abdominal ventrites and situated posterior and slightly mesad of spiracle.
Male genitalia. Genital capsule trapezoidal ( Figs 22, 23 View FIGURES 22–29 , 30, 31 View FIGURES 30–37 ), dorsal sclerites ( Figs 32 View FIGURES 30–37 , 41 View FIGURES38–44 ) may or may not present. Paramere Y-shaped ( Figs 25, 26 View FIGURES 22–29 ) or finger shaped ( Figs 33, 34 View FIGURES 30–37 ) with short stem and broad apodeme. One pair of conjunctival processes, membranous and moderately broad; distal apex of conjunctival processes with short finger-like sclerotized projection, towards ventral side ( Figs 27, 29 View FIGURES 22–29 , 36, 37 View FIGURES 30–37 ); processes of aedeagus sclerotized, much smaller than conjunctival processes and closely encircling aedeagus; aedeagus short, sclerotized, deflected towards dorsal side of phallotheca ( Figs 27 View FIGURES 22–29 , 35, 37 View FIGURES 30–37 ).
Remarks. The genus Acrozangis can be included in the generic key to subfamily Pentatominae by Salini & Viraktamath, 2015, by inserting a couplet (at couplet no. 30) "posterior end of metasternal carina with V-notch ( Glaucias ) or in hollowed out style ( Acrozangis ) to accommodate apex of basal abdominal tubercle".
