Diagnosis. Head yellowish, postclypeus inflated and convex in profile, with one low longitudinal carina; thorax yellowish, pronotum lacking median carina, forewing yellowish with bold dark brown venation and a white transverse band in the apical third, cross veins in the apex absent.

Description. Head ( Figs 6–7 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ): yellowish, with the third segment of rostrum black; compound eyes brown, rounded, arranged transversely; vertex smooth and rectangular, lacking median carina; ocelli red, closer to each other than to compound eyes; tylus smooth and rectangular, lacking median carina; antennae yellowish, pedicel sparsely setose, basal body of flagellum ovoid with one arista shorter than pedicel; postclypeus yellowish, inflated, convex in profile, with one longitudinal carina slightly marked, lateral grooves slightly marked; rostrum extending to base of mesocoxae. Thorax ( Figs 6–7 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ): yellowish; pronotum yellowish-orange, hexagonal, lacking median carina; pronotum with anterior margin straight, lateral-anterior margins straight, lateral posterior margin slightly sinuous, posterior margin grooved; scutellum yellowish with slight central concavity, lacking horizontal grooves; tegmina yellowish with dark brown venation and white band in basal third, and apical reticulation not developed; hindwings hyaline with dark brown venation, vein Cu1 thickened at base; legs yellowish-orange with prothoracic tibia and tarsomeres black; metathoracic tibia with two lateral spines (basal spine equal in size to spines in apical crown; apical spine larger than spines in apical crown); apical crown of spines on tibia consisting of two rows; basitarsus with one row of spines covered by setae; subungueal process present and triangular. Abdomen: pale to yellowish-orange. Genitalia: Male: Pygofer ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ) lacking process between anal tube and subgenital plates; subgenital plates ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ) long with acute spine on apex and elongated spiniform process located in middle portion; parameres ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ) each with one apical spine directed anteriorly, dorsal margin rounded and apex slender; aedeagus ( Figs 1–2 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ) antero-posteriorly flattened with one apical pair of membranous, fin-like processes. Female ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 7 ): Ovipositor with first valvula long and slender with acute apex and one basal process poorly developed, rounded, directed downwards; second valvulae long, with apical third of dorsal margin serrate; third valvulae short and wide, with long ventral setae.

Measurements (mm). Body length: Ƥ 6.5, 3 6.8–6.9; pronotal length: Ƥ 2.0, 3 1.3–1.4; forewing length: Ƥ 5.0, 3 5.0–5.1; maximum width of head, including eyes: Ƥ 1.3, 3 0.9–1.0; width between humeral angles: Ƥ 1.7, 3 2.0.

Distribution. FRENCH GUIANA: Kaw Mountain Reserve.

Remarks. Catrimania albifascia superficially resembles C. semivitrea (Walker) in having translucent forewings, but differs in the color pattern of the forewings (which have a white band on the basal third) and shape of the male genitalia (and specifically in the unusual shape of the aedeagus of C. albifascia ).

Etymology. The Latin species name “ albifascia ” refers to the white, horizontal band located on the basal third of each forewing.
