Type locality. El Parque Nacional Natural Tamá (7º 21'N 72º 28'W), Departamento de Norte de Santander, Colombia

Diagnosis. Head black, postclypeus light brown, inflated, rounded and swollen, lacking median carina with slight lateral grooves; thorax and pronotum light brown; pronotum lacking median carina, with the anterior margin with a white stripe; tegmina light brown with white venation.

Description. Head ( Figs 58–59 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ): black; rostrum brownish, extending to mesocoxae; compound eyes dark brown, rounded, arranged transversely; vertex smooth, quadrangular, lacking median carina; ocelli brown; tylus light brown and wide, lacking median carina; antennae brown, pedicel sparsely setose, basal body of flagellum ovoid with arista shorter than pedicel; postclypeus light brown, inflated, rounded and swollen, lacking median carina, with slightly marked lateral grooves. Thorax ( Figs 58–59 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ): light brown; pronotum light brown with one horizontal white stripe near anterior margin extending to antero-lateral margins, hexagonal, lacking median carina, anterior margin straight, lateral-anterior margins straight and short, lateral posterior margin slightly sinuous, posterior margin grooved; scutellum light brown, with slight central concavity and lacking horizontal grooves; tegmina light brown with white venation, apical reticulation poorly developed; hindwings pale brown with brownish venation, vein Cu1 not thickened at base; legs brownish, metathoracic tibia with two lateral spines (basal spine equal in size to those located in apical crown and apical spine larger); apical crown of tibia with two rows of spines; basitarsus with one row of spines covered by sparse setae; subungueal process present, triangular. Abdomen: black. Genitalia: Male: Pygofer ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ) lacking process between anal tube and subgenital plates; subgenital plates ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ) with slender digitiform apex and with sclerotized acute spine; parameres ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ) each with apex long and slender, lacking spine, dorsal process developed and round; aedeagus ( Figs 53–54 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ) slender with curved shaft bearing one pair of long lateral processes and one slender ventral process, in dorsal view one carina near apex. Female ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 45 – 59. 45 – 52 ): First valvula of ovipositor long and slender with acute apex and lacking developed basal process; second valvulae long and slender, dorsal margin smooth, lacking serrations; third valvulae short and wide, with long setae ventrally.

Measurements (mm). Body length: Ƥ 7.9, 3 7.9; pronotal length: Ƥ 1.3, 3 1.3; forewing length: Ƥ 6.0, 3 6.2; maximum width of head, including eyes: Ƥ 1.4, 3 1.9; width between humeral angles: Ƥ 2.2, 3 2.4.

Distribution. COLOMBIA: Departamento de Norte de Santander.

Remarks. The male genitalic structures of Z. pecki differ from those of other Zuata species in that the aedeagus of Z. pecki is robust and short and the apex of the paramere is long, slender, and turned dorsally.

Etymology. This species is named in honor of Dr. Daniel Peck in recognition of his many valuable contributions to the study of Neotropical Cercopidae .

Holotype (3, dissected, deposited at AMNH) with labels: “ COLOMBIA: Norte de / Santander; PNN Tama Mun. / Toledo Voa La Camacha Pozo / Negro; 7º 21'N 72º 28'W; 2213m; / 23.X–2.XI 2003; malaise; C.
