Amended diagnosis (after Delamare Deboutteville et al. 1975; Camacho and Serban
1998)
AI 6- or 7-segmented. AII 3-segmented, very short, first two segments without setae. Md pars incisiva with four to six teeth and pars molaris with six to eight teeth. MxI distal endite with five teeth. Exopod 3-segmented (ThII to IV), unsegmented or 2-segmented (ThI), or 3-segmented (ThV to VII). Male thoracopod VIII with exopod and reduced endopod implanted on posterior side of basipod; basipod prolonged anteriorly into penial complex, latter trilobed with a triangular outer lobe, a dentate lobe covered by small ‘tubercles’, and an inner lobe with setules on distal end. Female thoracopod VIII reduced to two very small lobes. Pleopods present or absent. Uropod sympod with six to ten spines; endopod with three setae; exopod with two to five setae on furca with six or seven spines. Anal operculum not pronounced.
Type species: T. bowmani Delamare Deboutteville et al., 1975 .
Other species in the genus: T. sachi Cho, 1996 , and T. aaronswinki sp. nov. and T. coloradoensis sp. nov., described herein.
