Leveillula View in CoL View at ENA on Cucurbita
Occurrence of Leveillula on Cucurbita spp. is not very common in Iran. However, one collection of this powdery mildew has been recorded in this country (see Khodaparast and Abbasi 2009). Recently we examined a new collection on Cucurbita sp. from Bojnord (Khorasane-shomali province). As shown for two collections on Tropaeolum majus and Ficus carica , fungus on Cucurbita also showed morphologically being different from L. taurica , a common species on agriculturally important crops ( Fig. 7). Even more surprisingly sequences of rDNA ITS showed 100% identical to those of Leveillula thevenotiae (Jacz.) Golovin on Thevenotia persica DC. from Iran.
Specimen examined. IRAN, Khorasan-e shomail Province, Bojnord, on Cucurbita sp. , 2008, M. Jahani (GUM 724).
