Paratypes. 4♂♂ ( TARI), same data as holotype ; 1♂ ( TARI), Tiaoloshan (吊羅山), 4.V.2015 ; 2♂♂ ( NMPC), Jianfengling (尖峰嶺), Tiachi (天池) Lake env., 18°44’40”N 108°50’41”E, 950 m, 9–11.V.2011, leg. M. Description. Length 5.6–5.7 mm, width 2.2–2.3 mm. General color ( Figs 13 View FIGURES 13 H– 13I) metallic blue; antennae blackish brown except three basal tarsomeres; mouth parts and legs yellow, but apex of tibia, and tarsi of front legs, tarsomeres III–V of middle and hind legs darker. Vertex with reticulate microsculpture. Antenna filiform in males ( Fig. 16A View FIGURES 16 ), apices of antennomeres III–IX wider, length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.2: 0.8: 1.1: 1.1: 1.0: 1.1: 1.0: 1.0: 0.9: 1.0, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 3.2: 1.1: 4.0: 5.1: 5.4: 4.5: 4.6: 4.2: 4.5: 4.0: 5.4. Pronotum transverse, 1.3x wider than long, disc with reticulate microsculpture, dense, coarse punctures, and one pair of lateral depressions; lateral margin basally narrowed; apical and basal margins subtruncate. Elytra elongate and parallel-sided, 1.8x longer than wide; disc with reticulate microsculpture, dense, coarse punctures, arranged into longitudinal rows, and distinct longitudinal ridges between longitudinal rows of punctures. Tarsomeres I of front legs swollen in males, widened at basal 1/3 ( Fig. 16E View FIGURES 16 ). Penis ( Figs 16 View FIGURES 16 B–16D) extremely slender, 11.0x longer than wide; apex narrowly rounded, with medial, shallow, narrow notch; tectum elongate from apical 1/10 to basal 1/3, narrower apically; almost straight in lateral view, moderately curved near base; triangular sclerites small; internal sac with one narrow, short endophallic sclerite complex, 0.5x as long as penis, composed of two sclerites, apical piece much shorter (0.5x) than apical piece, dorsal sclerite well developed but shorter than apical piece, apex acute in lateral view; ventral sclerites present.
Female unknown.
Diagnosis. Males of Theopea hainanensis sp. nov. are similar to those of T. laosensis sp. nov. based on the symmetrical penis, shorter basal piece, and presence of ventral sclerites. The former can be distinquished by the symmetrical sides of apical piece ( Figs 16 View FIGURES 16 B–16D) (asymmetrical and twisted apical piece in T. laosensis sp. nov. ( Figs 18 View FIGURES 18 C–18F)).
Etymology. The new species is named for the type locality.
Food plants. Unknown.
Distribution. China: Hainan.
