Type locality. “Mt. Tsurugi, Tokushima Pref. ” [ Japan, Shikoku GoogleMaps , Tokushima Prefecture, Mt. Tsurugi, ca. 33°51′N 134°05′E].
Type material. Holotype male ( EUMJ), labeled: “[SHIKOKU], Mt. Tsurugi , Tokushima Pref., 11. VII. 1976, A. Oda leg.” // “ Holotype Eurypogon hisamatsui SAKAI 1982 ”. Four paratypes [not studied by us], one male and three females ( EUMJ).
Additional material examined. JAPAN: HONSHU: 1 female, Gumma Pref., Nikko distr. , 1430–1500 m, 11.– 12.VIII.[19]80, L. Maranuma ( BMNH) .
Diagnosis. This species can be recognized based on the following combination of characters: punctures on head and pronotum ( Figs 4D View FIGURE 4 , 9A View FIGURE 9 ) relatively small and deep, elytra ( Fig. 4D View FIGURE 4 ) together more than twice as long as wide, elytral punctures ( Fig. 10J View FIGURE 10 ) fine, and aedeagal median lobe relatively broad for most of its length, then gradually narrowed towards apex ( Sakai 1982).
Sexual dimorphism. Females are slightly more robust and relatively shorter than males, with distinctly shorter antennae. For more information, see Sakai (1982).
Distribution. This species is endemic to Japan, being known across Honshu and Shikoku Islands ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 ).
