Cephaloptera tarapacana Philippi, 1892: 8 View in CoL , pl. 3(fig.2). Holoype (unique): lost. Type locality: 12 miles west of Iquique , Tarapacà Province, Chile, southeastern Pacific.

South Africa voucher material: None.

South African distribution: Jeffreys Bay (EC) to KZN border with Mozambique .

Remarks: The distribution of this species is patchy with only scattered records in the WIO, including South African waters.

Conservation status: EN (2019).
