Jordanita subsolana (Staudinger, 1862)

This species is distributed from southern Spain across the areas of southern parts of central Europe, Italy, Balkans, Greece up to Turkey and Transcaucasia ( Naumann et al. 1999). Only several historical records exist for this species in Croatia ( Abafy-Aigner et al. 1896; Abafi-Aigner 1910; Mladinov 1965; Rebel 1904, 1910, 1912; Stauder 1921, 1932; Šašić et al. 2016). During this survey, the known range of the species in Croatia has been significantly expanded and now includes parts of the Lika region and several localities within Nature park Žumberak and Nature park Medvednica in the Continental biogeographical region. During this survey, this species was recorded only on four localities indicating the rareness in the country ( Fig. 10 ). It seems that the species is rather local in Croatia, but more widespread than previously known. It has been mostly observed in hilly or montane areas on dry calcareous grasslands. In overall, almost all new and historical records are from montane grasslands. Such habitats are still widespread in the country so it is most probable that the species will be recorded on additional localities in future surveys. According to Naumann et al. (1999) J. subsolana inhabits dry open grasslands which is in accordance with the observations from Croatia.
