Diagnosis (males). Epandrial medial process not clearly bifurcated, with two pointed apical edges; hypandrium right lobe posteriorly elongated; phallus with articulated right process bearing few teeth.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, FRENCH GUIANA: Regina, Kaw Mt. Patawa , 4.55ºN, 52.17ºW, ii.2006, Malaise trap, 300 m, J. Cerda col. ( LACM) GoogleMaps . Paratypes: BRAZIL: 1♂, Amazonas: Manaus, Reserva Ducke , Igarapé Barro Branco , 12–27.i.2005, Malaise trap, A. Henriques col. ( MZUSP) ; 1♂, same data, but 12–22.iv.2004 ( INPA) ; 1♂, Rondônia: Guajará-Mirim, Rio Ouro Preto, Bananal , 20–27.x.1995, Malaise trap, J.A. Rafael & A. Henriques col. ( MZUSP) .
Description. Male. Body length, 2.4 mm. Head. Frons dark brown, pubescent, without median furrow. Flagellomere 1 light brown, pubescent, oval. Arista pre-apical, pubescent. Palpus yellowish-brown; one upper genal seta. Thorax. Scutum and pleural sclerites brown; anepisternum setulose dorsally, with one long seta; scutellum dark brown, with medial and posterior areas yellow. Legs light brown, except foretibia and foretarsus, yellowish-brown. Forefemur without ventral row of strong setae. Foretibia with one dorsal seta at basal fourth and an anterodorsal row of strong setae. Foremetatarsus ratio, 6.0. Midtibia with one anterodorsal and three posterodorsal setae. Hind femur swollen (height/length ratio, 0.40). Hind tibia with one anterodorsal and 4–5 posterodorsal setae ( Fig. 202 View FIGURES 196–233 ). Wing. Costa 0.47 of the wing length, other wing features as for the genus. Halter white, with a rounded, apical black maculation. Abdomen. Tergites dark brown, with lighter posterior band and dense microtrichia producing a silvery sheen. Hypopygium light brown ( Figs. 32–35 View FIGURES 32–35 ). Epandrial medial process approximately square, with two pointed apical edges. Epandrial right posterior margin with a pointed process, without subepandrial right process. Hypandrium with left lobe posteriorly elongated; right lobe narrow. Hypoproct with seven setae. Phallus ( Figs. 264–265 View FIGURES 264–267 ). Basiphallus without dorsal process. Membranous part of the core plate could not be observed. Epiphallus ending free, with thin, transparent scales. Ventral plate restrict to right side, short, with two apical teeth.
Female. Unknown.
Geographic distribution. French Guiana and northern and northwestern Brazil (States of Amazonas and Rondônia).
Etymology. The specific epithetic refers to the type-locality, Regina, in French Guiana.
