Type locality: “Turkestan occid.: prov. Maracandica (Samarkand): vallis flum. Zeravshan (A. Fedtschenko! V.1869).—Solum specimen (1 ♂) (Mus. Zool. Univers. Mosqu.)”.
Holotype, ♂: 1. <printed on pink label> // Заравш. дол [Zarafsh. valley] <printed> // “ Omalus pusillus” Rad. <handwritten by Semenov-Tian-Shanskij> // Ell. (Dictenulus) zeravshani m. [mihi] typ. un. ♂A. Semenov-Tian- Shansky det.
Remarks. Ellampus popovi was described based on a single male housed in ZMMU. In Kimsey & Bohart (1991: 249) the type repository is doubtfully ZIN, but none specimen of E. popovi is housed in ZIN.
Current status. Omalus popovi ( Semenov, 1932) (transferred to Omalus Panzer by Kimsey & Bohart 1991: 249).
