Key to tribes of subfamily Arctoseiinae (adults)
1. Tarsi II–IV with setae (d -2) elongated, whiplike; subcapitular seta hp -1 and internal palptrochanter seta elongated, curved; dorsal shield usually fully covering body dorsum, often with 1–8 pairs of paddle-shaped setae; sternal/sternitigenital shield fused with endopodal sclerites between coxae I–II and coxae II–III; peritreme long, its margins usually crenulate in different degrees; genu III with eight setae; female with ventrianal shield bearing 1–6 pairs opisthogastric setae, or this shield rarely ( Iphidonopsis View in CoL ) reduced to broadly expanded anal shield (with circumanal setae only)....................... Zerconopsini tribe n.
- Tarsi II–IV with setae (d -2) unmodified; subcapitular seta hp -1 and internal palptrochanter seta not elongated; dorsal shield fully or partly covering body dorsum, without paddle-shaped setae; sternal/sternitigenital shield fused with endopodal sclerites between coxae I–II and coxae II–III or not; peritreme long or shortened, its margins usually smooth; genu III with seven setae; female with anal shield or expansive ventrianal shield bearing 6 pairs of opisthogastric setae......................... 2
2. Female and male with metapodal platelets incorporated into expansive ventrianal shield bearing 6 pairs of opisthogastric setae; male with sternitigenital shield fully consolidated with endopodal strips alongside coxae I–IV.......... Maxiniini tribe n.
- Female with 1–2 pairs of metapodal platelets free from anal shield bearing only three circumanal setae (exception—shield of Arctoseius magnanalis Evans, 1958 View in CoL with additional pair of opisthogastric setae); male with metapodal platelets free or incorporated into ventrianal (or rarely separate ventral and anal) shield; male with sternitigenital shield separated from endopodal strips between coxae III–IV..........................................................
