Xenysmoderodes Yoshitake, 2007: 76 . Type species: Xenysmoderodes sasajii Yoshitake, 2007

Diagnosis. The genus is distinguished by the following characters: frons narrow, strongly depressed; eyes large, not approaching anteriorly; rostrum short and robust, with or without median carina, 1.21–1.44× (male) or 1.26–1.35× (female) as long as prothorax, basal part slightly narrower than frons; rostrum in dorsal view almost parallel-sided in basal 2/3, then abruptly curved and moderately broadened towards apex; antennae inserted at apical 1/3 of rostrum, base of antennal scrobe clearly visible from above, scape without apical projection, nearly as long as funicle, club oblong-ovate, finely pubescent except basal 1/3; pronotum laterally compressed, reticulately punctured, 1.33–1.71× as wide as long; central pronotal carina complete, with or without subparallel, incomplete, longitudinal carinae at apex; pronotal spine long, acutely projected; ocular lobes moderately developed, fringed with short, white vibrissae; elytra 1.00–1.13× as long as wide, 1.47–1.73× as wide as prothorax, sides widest behind humeri, slightly bisinuate in lateral margin; intervals convex and slightly wider than striae; odd intervals more convex than even ones; basal 1/3 of interva1 marked with a dense patch of oval scales, the middle of interval 8 with a small patch of white, oval scales; striae linear, punctures in striae deep and separated by a distance more than their diameter; legs slender, femora clavate, mesotibiae acutely mucronate at apex in male, claws appendiculate, widely separated from each other, appendages shorter than claws, evidently separated from each other; sternal canal evident only before procoxae.

Distribution. Japan, China (Zhejiang, Guizhou, Guangxi).
