Epitrimerus sabinae n. sp. ( Figs. 4 View FIGURE 4 and 5 View FIGURE 5 )
Protogyne ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 )
Female: (n = 19) Body fusiform, 220 long, 68 wide, 63 thick; light yellow in color. Gnathosoma 17, projecting obliquely down. Prodorsal shield 50 long, 60 wide; prodorsal shield with frontal lobe and many dashes; median and submedian lines absent, admedian lines concave at anterior 1/3. Dorsal tubercles ahead of rear margin, 21 apart, scapular setae (sc) 8 projecting dorsomedially. Sternal line absent. Coxal area with granules; anterolateral setae on coxisternum I (1b) 10, proximal setae on coxisternum I (1a) 22, proximal setae on coxisternum II (2a) 30. Legs I 35 long, femur 8, basiventral femoral setae (bv) 10; genu 4 long, antaxial genual setae (l'') 25 long; tibia 8, paraxial tibial setae (l') 5, setae located 2/3 from dorsal base; tarsus 6 long; tarsal empodium simple, 6rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Legs II 28 long, femur 7, basiventral femoral setae (bv) 10; genu 4 long, antaxial genual setae (l'') 6 long; tibia 6; tarsus 5 long; tarsal empodium simple, 6 rayed, tarsal solenidion tapered. Dorsal opisthosoma with 43 annuli, with elliptical microtubercles on dorsomedian and lateral ridges, ventrally with 90 microtuberculate rings. Setae c2 15 on ventral annulus 18; setae d 30 on ventral annulus 37; setae e 25 on ventral annulus 58; setae f 20 on 6th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 4 long. Female genitalia 17 long, 27 wide, coverflap with 14 to 18 longitudinal ridges, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 20 long.
Male: (n = 2) 190 long, 58 wide; genitalia 5 long, 20 wide, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 15 long.
Type data: Holotype, female, from Sabina chinensis cv. Kaizuca ( Cupressaceae ), Longyuwan, Luanchuan County, Henan Province, 19 July 2004, coll. X.F. Xue. Paratypes: 18 females and 2 males, from Sabina chinensis (L.) Antoine ( Cupressaceae ) and Sabina chinensis cv. Kaizuca ( Cupressaceae ), Taishan mountain, Shandong Province; Longyuwan, Luanchuan County, Henan Province; Zhouzhi County, Shaanxi Province, P.R. China, 17 August 2003, 19 July 2004 and 30 August 2004, respectively, coll. X.F. Xue.
Relation to host: Vagrant on the leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.
Etymology: The specific designation is derived from the generic name of the host plant, Sabina .
Note: This species is similar to Epitrimerus yunbimus Huang 1996 ( Huang & Boczek, 1996) , but can be differentiated by the coxal area which is covered with granules, absence of a sternal line, admedian lines concave at anterior 1/3, submedian line absent and dorsal annuli with elliptical microtubercles.
