Paraepitrimerus n. gen.

Type species: Paraepitrimerus sanguisorbae n. sp.

Diagnosis: Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with frontal lobe, dorsal tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, setae directed mediad; all coxal setae present; basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent from legs I and II; dorsal opisthosoma with three longitudinal ridges, middorsal ridge fading simultaneously with lateral ridges towards the rear; opisthosoma typically divided into broad dorsal annuli, and narrow, microtuberculate ventral annuli.

Etymology: The genus designation is derived from the generic name Epitrimerus, Nalepa, 1898 , to which the new genus is the most similar.

Note: The new taxon is assigned to the Eriophyoidea, Eriophyidae, Phyllocoptinae , Phyllocoptini . The new genus is similar to Epitrimerus Nalepa, 1898 , but can be differentiated by the absence of basiventral femoral setae (bv) from legs I and II. The new genus is also close to Calepitrimerus Keifer, 1938 , but the absence of the basiventral femoral setae (bv) absent from legs I and II and middorsal ridge fading simultaneously with lateral ridges caudally (middorsal ridge ending in a broad furrow before termination of subdorsal ridges in Calepitrimerus ) distinguish it from Calepitrimerus .
